What is 3D CBCT imaging?
The i-CAT™ 3D CBCT is digital imaging equipment that allows the extraction of 360º detailed images of your mouth. This enables orthodontists to fully visualize and assess each patient’s erupted and unerupted teeth, jaws, jaw joints, and airways. With a detailed assessment of your mouth’s condition, our team can properly plan an orthodontic treatment.
Aside from accuracy, another advantage of 3D CBCT imaging is that it emits significantly less radiation than conventional 2D panoramic and cephalometric imaging.
Why Cone Beam CBCT Scans Improve Treatment Accuracy
Cone beam scans also allow orthodontists to see clogged places like the sinuses and swollen tissues like the tonsils and turbinates. Orthodontists are also taught to recognize oral signs of sleep-related respiratory distress, such as tongue thrusts, open bites, dental crossbites, and narrow dental arches.
Using the iCAT™ imaging equipment, we may take 3D X-rays of the teeth, roots, jaw joints, skeletal balance, airway, and sinuses without any distortion or magnification. In less than ten seconds, the scan provides much more information, enabling precise diagnosis and previously unheard-of treatment planning capabilities.
