You may remember us blogging about the advantages of wearing a mouth guard last week. Today, we thought we’d follow-up with a helpful video about facial protection. April is almost upon us, and for Drs. Nettune and Banasiak, that only means one thing: Facial protection. You see, April happens to be National Facial Protection Month, and it’s a good time to remind our young athletes about staying safe on the field this spring. Nearly 60,000 people injure their faces annually while participating in sports activities, and teenagers account for 80 percent of all sports-related trips to the emergency room. That’s why Drs. Nettune and Banasiak, however, know that the spring months bring an increase in outdoor activities and a greater chance of damaging your precious pearly whites while participating in sports activities. If you play sports, it’s important that you consult Drs. Nettune and Banasiak for special precautions. A protective mouth guard is advised for playing spring sports such as baseball, lacrosse and soccer.
